Meet TJ,

My name is T.J. Joye and I am a Republican Candidate running for Florence County Sheriff. I first and foremost identify as a Christian saved by the Lord I serve. Secondly, I am a passionate, life-long resident of Florence County. I’ve been in law enforcement for 30 years – starting out as a Military POlice Officer in the Army National Guard, a Patrol Deputy with our Sheriff’s Office, and retiring as a Lieutenant from the South Carolina Highway Patrol being over the 8 counties. 

I’m running for Sheriff because I believe the “status quo” is unacceptable at our Sheriff’s Office. For far too long, I’ve felt the priority of the Sheriff’s Department has not been where it should be. We have to remember neither this office nor this position is owned by any one person. It belongs to the people of Florence County, and the people of our great county deserves a Sheriff’s Office it can trust.  

From criminal investigations and indictments for financial mismanagement to the Governor suspending our Sheriff from office, our County desperately needs a new Sheriff who can provide new leadership to restore trust, integrity and accountability, and bring the Florence County Sheriff’s Department back to greatness. That’s my pledge to you.

As your next Sheriff I want to get to work on reducing the crime rate. Over
the past decade, Florence County has become much more dangerous and the
crime rate is higher here than it is in Myrtle Beach, Charleston. and Greenville. In fact, citizens of Florence County are twice as likely to be a victim of violent crime, and nearly three times as likely to be a victim of property crime than the average citizen of the United States. It’s also anticipated that, at this rate, one out of every 12 citizens will be a victim of crime here in Florence County – and that, my friends, is completely unacceptable.

I encourage you to read up on me and my plan to restore trust and integrity back to the
Florence County Sheriff’s Office. Over the next several months, I intend to share my vision for our county with voters and earn their votes to become our next Sheriff,”
